A portable HIV testing kit that gives a positive or negative result in
minutes, and costs about a dollar per unit. This isn't just wishful
thinking, either; the mChip is already in the prototype stage, and uses a
$100 card reader to identify diseases including HIV and Syphillis.
Trials have shown the tech to be just as accurate as expensive and
time-consuming lab tests, and patents have already been filed, so expect
it to start saving serious lives in the near future.
